Hello,
We have a 1961 home in Hawaii and it has a low slope (2:12) roof with ~ 2″ of canec on top of an open beam ceiling.
Canec is the common name for a fiberboard building material that was made from sugar cane bagasse — fact sheet attached.
Question — What is the R-Value of the canec?
We plan to remove all Canec and reroof. We want to ensure our roofer’s proposed plan at least meets this R-Value.
Thank you,
Andrew

Don't know specifically, but probably similar to other fiber boards at R5 or R6 per 2".
