The “B” vent is a 6” heater flue that services the gas foced hot air furnace in the basemet that is 80% efficent. The top of the chase is wide open in the attic. Can I seal the top of the chase with metal flashing and fire caulk? Will this create a fire hazard? I am in the Philadelphia area.

In my opinion you should only use parts and installation methods from the manufacturer of the vent pipe. If you call them, the tech support/product engineering people can usually help.
