To Insulate under slab or not?

Hi, I’m new to the forum. I’m building in Bishop, CA. It’s high desert with big temperature swings. In this environment, is it recommended to thermally connect the slab to earth, or insulate under the slab, as in a perfect wall assembly? Thanks!
