Switch near shower & tub

fromPok | Posted in General Questions on

Good Morning. Can an electrical expert help me with code question? How far should the switch from a standup shower and soaking tub in a bathroom?
From what I read in NEC, the switch can’t be embedded in shower. Out side shower with GFCI + ARC and around soaking tub on the wall. would it pass code?

    frompok,

I'll let others more familiar with you code weigh in, but my understanding is the NEC only prohibits switches and receptacles from "wet areas", and unlike our Canadian code doesn't go on to give a distance from them that has to be maintained.

From a practical perspective, the 1m horizontal distance in our code makes a lot of sense to me, and I would try and maintain it regardless.
