Suresill Window Head Flashing with Integrated Side Dams

rockies63 | Posted in General Questions on

I saw this video from the Building Knowledge Canada channel on Youtube mentioning a window head flashing that has integrated side dams. Apparently you can get them at Home Depot.

See minute 2:18 for the first mention of it and minute 5:15 for a more in-depth discussion.

I was intrigued by him stating that it is code (especially in Canada) to include a kickout head flashing on all windows that are not protected by an overhang.

    Scott,

I'm not familiar enough with other provincial codes to know if head-flashing is required everywhere in Canada. Here in BC is it. The code specifies what counts as overhang protection, and the size of the end dams that must be used. Most builders form them in pre-finished metal flashing using a hand bender. It's quick and easy to do. The Suresill product seems like it might be geared to the DIY market?
