Spray Foam and Fire Retardants
Spray foam has come a long way…major manufacturers are now offering Greengaurd Gold certified ultra low VOC products and using blowing agents with a much lower GWP than before.
But why is there such little talk about the fire retardants (TCPP) used and their potential to migrate into the living space over time? I’ve tried researching this, and there are only a few studies and tests done on TCPP migration and contamination that are years old with little to no followup.
Is there a reason there isn’t more information about this? Is it just not a big deal as it seems like thousands of people are spray foaming their homes daily without any concern?
