Spam email notifications

I’m getting pounded here by notifications  of replies to a thread I subscribed to quite a while back. I don’t see this question on the first page of questions, yet here come the notifications – around 30 so far. I opted out of getting notified, but the emails keep coming in. Is someone there, monitoring this q&a who might get a handle on this?

    Update from web devo team: "A fix was put in place that triggered a backlog of email notifications. There is not anything we can do once they are queued up to send. It will stop."
