Soler & Palau ERV experience

user-305836 | Posted in Mechanicals on

Considering ERVs for my home and was thinking UltimateAir.  However, the price is a bit high.  I’ve had Soler and Palau ERV’s recommended to me and was wondering if anybody has experience with these.  Probably a TR300 which I would install myself.

Thanks

No experience, but the efficiency specs are not too impressive. 67% heating, 48% cooling. Definitely below what I'd consider, but maybe if the price is right and the feature set is good, it might not be a bad choice. I'd compare some other brands in the same price range first.

For GBA readers unfamiliar with this particular corporate takeover, here are the details: For many years, a company called RenewAire in Madison, Wisconsin, manufactured and sold HRVs and ERVs. (Way back in the early days, RenewAire was owned by Mitsubishi and was used as a vehicle for selling Mitsubishi Lossnay HRVs in the U.S. -- but that's another story.)

A couple of years ago, a Spanish company -- or perhaps I should say, a Catalan company -- named Soler & Palau, with headquarters in Barcelona, purchased RenewAire. Soler & Palau has manufactured and sold ventilation equipment in Barcelona since 1951.

As far as I can determine, RenewAire HRVs and ERVs are still being sold under the RenewAire brand name, but I'm not entirely sure whether or not the Soler & Palau brand name sometimes appears on certain RenewAire units.

The S+P ERV's are, indeed, rebranded Renewaire units. The 300 is not a particularly efficient unit...the sweet spots in this lineup are the Renewaire EV90/GR90, the EV90P and the EV200. Do you have a REALLY big house? The EV300 is overkill on airflow for most single family residential applications, and you pay an energy penalty to run it as well.
