single mini split wall unit for 2 rooms

dounoJC | Posted in Mechanicals on

I am hoping that placement of a single 18k head unit on the end of the living room wall as shown (between dinning & living), I will be able to get a portion of the airflow to flow around divider wall into the dinning/kitchen area.
Not looking for an even division just some as the majority of time is spent in living room.
8ft ceiling height – 6ft opening between wall & divider.
About 700 sq ft total.

Thank you

how tight is your house? In our old house which is fairly tight and relatively well insulated, has excellent luck with three units covering six rooms & over 2300 SF. But if your house is quite leaky, all bets are off.

Thank you - I think it is fairly sealed, built in 1981, but all new triple pane windows.

what's the # - _@ACH50/. ? Worth testing! Many "repairs are fairly easy and quick. If it's tight, one will do it, but it's mainly about tightness.

We (house of 4) currently live in a Shop home that's about 900sqft total. 2 bed 1 bath full kitchen and decent living area. It's all heated and cooled by an LG 24k wall mount mini split. The 2 bed rooms are about 2 degrees cooler/warmer than the rest of the house. But other than that, I am beyond pleased at how these new mini splits work! We often get down to -10 or colder in the winter for a week or more. Also, I forgot to mention, the whole house is inside a post frame shop that is spray foamed. 5" in the house and 2" in the shop with 3" on the shop lid. This unit keeps up great! I think you'll be happy!

IT will work fine. Setup similar to my living/dining. If you turn the vanes so that it aims towards the dining room, you will even out the airflow. If you have a particularly 'bad' window that is far from the unit, you may notice a cold spot, but otherwise air does not stay put, so the temps will be fine
