self-adhesive-wrb or taped-plywood-w-regular-wrb?

buildzilla | Posted in General Questions on

value-engineering related, assuming high-quality materials for example:

(1) pro-clima-adhero
vs
(2) pro-clima-solitex-mento + tescon-vana

self-adhesive are like 3x price of non-adhesive, but when u factor in stapling and taping material/labor, can any practitioners comment on where it lands in the end with respect to final cost and result?

Full self adhered is harder to install plus lot of subs are not familiar with it. Getting a good install also requires some experience and you don't want the crew to learn on your house.

Taping seams does add a bit of labor but it is pretty quick for a typical wall. Just make sure you get a quality tape and they are rolled.

The one benefit of a mechanically attached WRB is you can also put it over exterior insulation. Assuming outie windows, this makes the WRB install and all flashing details pretty simple as everything is in a single plane.
