Securing Thin-brick/synthetic brick Veneer over Rigid Foam

idahobuild | Posted in General Questions on

Hey All,

We are considering a change to our exterior cladding.  We’d like to change the lap siding on the front wall out for a ‘thin-brick’ veneer.

WALL COMPONENTS (see atch’d):
1. 2×6 stud
2. OSB sheathing
3. Prosoco R-guard and Fast Flash (W-ARB)
4. Two inches of Polyiso with foil face with stainless steel screws into OSB
5. 3/4″ rain screen battens
6. Lap Siding and Trim

For the swap, I am thinking we’d replace the 3/4″ battens with a rain screen matting like “Mortairvent” (link below). Then, add the metal lath followed by mortar and synthetic brick.

I found a detail on GBA for this (see atch’d and link).
https://www.greenbuildingadvisor.com/app/uploads/sites/default/files/GBA_INDIVIDUAL_PDF_FILES/GBA_PDF_Series-2/2-02209.pdf

Would we need to change the screw pattern for the Polyiso to ensure fastener contact with the studs to support the thin-brick?

The detail doesn’t show fasteners for insulation.

Thanks
WD
