climate zone 4A
existing masonry wall 2 wythe brick/cmu/ 1960’s construction.
i stripped back to expose the block on the interior and am wondering what my best assembly will be. [really don’t want to cover the exterior with continuous insulation and new cladding, so second best.]
i plan to parge the inside face of the CMU with a vapor permiable air barrier. [eitther a tradtional lime mix or a fancy material like Henry Airblock 17MR]
i
am considering 1″ XPS covered with either mold resistant drywall or cement board laminated to the xps or screwed into wood furring strips. [laminating in lieu of screwing to furring is not that hard so i am not concerned about constructability.]
I am assuming I should tape the seams of the insulation.
does this assembly make sense?
or am I better off with furring strips with rockwool insulation and drywall or cement board as the finish surface?
