Reduce noise pollution from high efficiency furnace discharge pipe?
Any good ideas as to how to reduce (eliminate) the noise from the discharge pipe from a newly installed high-efficiency furnace that is pointed at the neighbors’ house and causing a bit of ill feelings?
Is there a sound baffle that can be applied either in-line or on the end? Other options I have heard are:
– run the pipe up the wall to the roof;
– relocate the pipe to another exterior wall;
– install a sound loop inside the crawl space prior to discharging out the wall.
Any additional ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

You'll probably need to redirect the exhaust pipe. It would not be wise to impede the exhaust flow with any kind of baffle or other device.
But you can always check with the installer or supplier of the furnace.
William,
Does the discharge pipe have an exterior fan unit attached with a hood?
The discharge pipe is just that, a bare PVC pipe with a 45 degree elbow pointing down.
You don't indicate what climate zone you're in, but if it's snow country be sure that the exhaust pipe is high enough (or protected enough) that it won't get buried in snow. That can cause a CO problem in the house before the furnace shuts itself down due to backpressure.
Sorry, this is not snow country, San Francisco Bay Area.
There is a company named Field Controls that I have used in the past for similar situations regarding exaust venting. I've used the SWG Combo Vent with great success. Check out the site.

Thanks Roy, but Field Controls only deals with their units and nothing after-market for other companies.
