RedGard in bathroom?
I installed Hardie backer above the bathtub, with no barrier behind backer, and I’m thinking that RedGard might be a good idea before tile.
Any thoughts on this? Btw, I back-caulked backer with poly caulking.
Thanks.

My cloisonné does a lot of bathroom remodeling and that is a product he likes a lot.
Your cloisonné ?
That darn spell checker strikes again!
thanks, wondering how well thin set sticks to red guard, also is it nasty as far as off gassing?
Ben,
Redguard is made to have thin-set adhere to it. Quite easy to tile.
thanks
RedGard seems to me to dry completely without an odor, and thinset sticks to it perfectly well. Don't get RedGard on *anything* it's not supposed to be on, because it's never coming off. As far as I'm concerned, surface-applied waterproofing is the only way to go for shower walls. You need to pay attention to the joint between the tub and backerboard, and prep it per the RedGard instructions. Same goes for corners.
great i'm in
Yes, thanks to auto-correct, my cousin became my cloissoné. Good thing he is not my croissant.
Joe,
There's a reason almost all my posts are edited :)
