Recommendations for 24″ Wall Ovens

artisanfarms | Posted in General Questions on

I’m getting close to choosing appliances for the house I’m renovating and am looking for recommendations for 24″ wide wall ovens.  I’d like one that has a convection feature, but am out of date regarding which brands hold up and which are problematic.  I’d also like to spend less than $1,000 for the oven.

The Houzz forums are decent for this sort of research and there is a lot of historical content from Houzz acquiring Gardenweb and its forums.

My $0.02 for what it is worth. Stick to simple. Lot of stuff now has fancy displays and touch controls. Electronics and high heat don't mix, no matter how well it is engineered, it will always be the weak point. Most also have terrible UI and annoying to use.

Don't have much mileage on it as only installed it last year, but I ended up with an Electrolux 24" unit (doesn't look available in the US) for a rental specifically because it had simple controls. Also watch as some of the ovens are very small on the inside, not far from an easybake.

Overall, you best value is to stick to a 30" if you have the space. This is what I ended up with at home, was cheaper and fit a full size baking sheet.

The one thing I can highly recommend is an additional combination micro/convection oven. Makes for a great 2nd oven, I've baked bread, made pizza and even cooked a ducken (duck stuffed with a chicken stuffed with sausage) in there. Just make sure the unit has the option to enter in actual convection temperatures, some only have pre-programmed baking profiles.

Since I gave you my recommendations on your cooktop thread, I'll chime in here too ;) Note that I do have a wall oven planned (as well as a Bosch combi steam oven that I got on deep discount -- discontinued floor model at the appliance store). However, I'm also dedicating space on my countertop for a Breville countertop oven thing. Again, in my temporary kitchen setup, I only had their "mini smart oven" and I even baked mini batches of scones in it. The benefits of something small like this is that it preheats super fast, and also replaces a toaster (and some of the models also act like an air fryer, bread proofer, etc.) Of course, the drawback (and reason I still have a regular wall oven planned) is capacity -- I couldn't bake a full batch of anything in the countertop oven, but it was great for roasting some veggies for dinner quick, and the big ones allegedly fit a whole chicken too. Anyway, just food for thought
