Random “boost” mode on Renewaire EV Premium L ERV – anyone seen this happen?
I have a Renewaire EV Premium L ERV that occasionally pops into boost mode by itself – as if someone is pressing the boost button on one of the three Push Button L(ighted?) remote controls (there are three PBLs wired in parallel to the corresponding terminal on the single Push Button Timer which is in turn connected to the ERV). If I disconnect TWO of the PBLs, leaving only one connected, the random triggering of boost mode doesn’t occur. It doesn’t appear to matter *which* single PBL I leave connected.
A call to Renewaire’s tech support didn’t have much in the way of suggestions on how to resolve the issue. They suggested checking that the PBLs are wired in the same polarity, although the installation instructions suggest there is no specific polarity (low voltage AC control circuit); that didn’t seem to make much of a difference. Another option was for me to replace all the PBLs but I dislike shotgunning approaches to problems (and I’d have to foot the bill for the new PBLs).
Anyone run into this issue before? FWIW, my HVAC installer originally wired three PBLs in parallel to the control terminals on the ERV which doesn’t work with the Renewaire units – there must be a single PBT with one or more PBLs connected to the PBT. Electrically the PBLs seem really simple so I don’t *think* there’s much chance they were damaged by being installed incorrectly.
