Problems with comment posting

    Martin,

    Just and FYI,for over a week now I've noticed that when I visit the GBA homepage I get an "under maintenance" notification.

    It is odd because I can see new comments on the home tab under "Recent Comments". But those comments are not (yet?) posted. I've seen this for the last handful of days (ish). No maintenance messages for me.

    I am finding it frustrating to try to participate in a discussion, but not be able to see what has and hasn't been said already. I hope it can be resolved soon.

    Hopefully filling out Capcha works like doing Sudoko's and may stave off Alzheimer's.

    I get the same thing as Bill Dietze, although it seems to happen some days and not others. Having to fill out Captcha is a minor inconvenience, but well worth it if it stops the spam attacks.

    I am as frustrated as all of you with some of our current problems.

    Sometimes when I go to load the GBA home page, I get a blank screen or an error message. Trying again three or four times in a row usually works.

    The fact that comments aren't published promptly is a real problem. I have been informed that this glitch is not related to attempts to address spam. Our technical team is working on the problem.

    Finally, even editors like me are asked to fill out the CAPTCHA test every now and then, at seemingly random intervals. It's slightly irritating, but it's worth it if it cuts down on spam.

    Malcolm, thanks for putting a positive spin on it. I seem to have successfully outwitted my latest colony of carpenter ants, and I think the regular Captcha work may have been what gave me the edge.

    Martin, thanks for keeping us updated. Perhaps we can offer a team of volunteers to weatherize the house of whoever fixes this.

    Yes, the problem has been fixed. I'd like to thank the Taunton website developers for getting GBA back on track.
