Passive Radon System
I would like to make our new construction home passive resistant. Unfortunately, I am having difficulty finding plumbers that are well versed in this and radon mitigation companies don’t install passive systems. We plan to seal the concrete floors and walls with Radon Seal. We also have a sump pump. Should we put a sealed cover on the sump pit with a pipe venting to the outside? Or is the Radon Seal enough and just a sealed cover will be sufficient? Do we also need a tee pipe through the floor venting out through the roof? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I am unsure of the code in your area but what they do here in new construction is vent from the sump pit or near through the attic, in addition an electrician will install an outlet in the attic near the vent pipe. After construction they do radon testing and if the "passive" system is not enough the builder installs blower in the attic powered by the outlet that was installed for just this possibility
Carolyn,
Here is a link to an article that should answer your questions: All About Radon.
Related to what Michael said, I would suggest doing another search to find a radon mitigation professional that is willing to work or consult with you on the best plan for your house and location. It's worth getting this right from the start (rather then retrofit later) if you're in an area that is high risk for radon.
