passive radon mitigation with drain to daylight for a walkout basement

prometheanfire | Posted in Green Building Techniques on

I’m considering how to make the system totally passive, not require a sump pump, etc.  The idea is as follows.

1. Form-a-drain, bridging inside and outside in at least two places on the foundation wall.  I’m not sure if this should be tied into the french drain.
2. Passive Radon stack, up through the roof
3. To depressurize the system but still allow water to drain out there would be a p-trap (not sure how deep) at the final exterior drain points (maybe far enough inside / underground to prevent freezing up).

The pressure will be highly variable. Does it need to operate when the interior is the same as or cooler than the exterior?

Yes, climate zone 5 (near chicago). Summers can be hot and winters can be cold.
