Passive House with wood stove
Hi,
I am looking for examples of passive house that also installed a wood stove. I am interested to find out which ventilation system went with and if they have any issues.
Thank you,
Arnold

Arnold,
There are at least three relevant articles on this topic on the GBA website.
"All About Wood Stoves"
(See the section under the heading "Can you put a wood stove in a Passivhaus?" In that section, I discussed four Passivhaus buildings with wood stoves.)
"Vermont House Uses Only Half a Cord of Firewood"
(See the section under the heading "Learning how to run a wood stove in an airtight house.")
"Two Single-Family Passivhaus Projects in Maine"
(See the section under the heading "Wood stove woes.")
Hi Martin,
Thanks for the articles. I am surprise the article "Vermont House Uses Only Half a Cord of Firewood" indicates the Zehnder would depressurize the house when it went into defrost mode. I was under the impression that Zehnder used a heating element to heat up the incoming air instead of the more common method of simply recirculating indoor air over the core.
- I am curious if other project with a wood stove also experience the negative pressure when their ventilation goes into defrost mode?
- I'm also wondering different ventilation system have been used other than the Zehnder?
Thank you,
Arnold
Anyone know if David Goodyear from the Flaterock Passive House and David Murakami Wood from the Wolfe Island Passive House project are still active on this site or one could get a hold of them?
Thank you,
Arnold
