Ownes Corning Thermafiber vs. Rockwool Comfortbatt – any reason to choose one over the other?
I’m getting ready to insulate my ‘pretty good house’ and considering insulation. The Owens Corning Thermafiber and Rockwool Comfortbatt are close to the same price. The Rockwool has a slightly better R number.
Are there good reasons concerning, performance, longevity, or ease of installation to consider one brand over the other?

They should have identical R values for the same thickness, at least that’s what I’ve always seen. Rockwool is slightly less dusty than thermafiber to install, but aside from that, there is little difference between the two products. What I usually do is just work out the price per square foot for both (since they come in different size packs), then buy whichever is cheaper on that particular day.

Rockwool claims to have lower levels of up-front carbon emissions due to the way they run their plants. I'm not sure about the details, but with everything else being pretty equivalent, I prefer to support the business doing the most good (or least harm) to our planet.
