Owens Corning Next Gen Fiberglass Batts

cmcgrath09 | Posted in Energy Efficiency and Durability on

Does any one have experience with this product? New Construction 2×6 walls Zone 6 . I have 2in polyiso on the exterior.  I intended to use mineral wool, but looking at prices and promo vids for Owens. I am thinking of using there R-21 unfaced Next gen batts. Almost half the cost of mineral wool. Yes a little bit less R value. Heat is wood and mini splits. My questions is it vapor permeable/ dry abilities? With the poly iso on the exterior I intended to have my walls dry to the interior. With this be a problem? I read a article under the search functions. and I seems it would be a ok choice. But things are always changing. This will be installed by me.

P.S I would also be using this but double the layers in the cathedral ceiling(2x12s) , and two r-30 batts in the flat celling portions. Home is very well air sealed.
Thanks Chris

Unfaced fiberglass would be fine - they don't even give a perm rating for it on their data sheet which means it's pretty high. Air sealing will block most vapor though.

Also, they make batts for 2x12s, so you don't need to do a double layer.
