First-Generation Sanden Heat Pump Hot Water Heater

DavidDrake | Posted in Mechanicals on

I have an opportunity to purchase what appears to be a (see attached picture). Unit is complete with all parts (Tank + outside unit), and has never been installed, but is obviously out of warranty. I would do installation myself.

Asking price is $1500, but could prob. get it for less than that.

Other options I’m considering for DHW include a Rheem hybrid model, or Rheem conventional electric plus 5′ PowerPipe drain heat recovery unit.

Any advice or other suggestions appreciated.

    David,

I would give it a go if the unit also includes a warranty. I just looked up the new Sanden unit, and it is well over $5K (equipment only).

More conventional HPWH aren't exactly cheap either.

    Crazy times.
