New Evaporator Coil smell when heat turns on
Just had a Goodman evaporator coil replaced on my furnace unit, and I have a terrible chemical smell when running the heat. No smell running a/c or fan only. The smell stays in the ductwork for days if I didn’t air it out with all windows and door open.
Any experience with new evaporator coils? There’s the plastic drain pan, wondering if it offgasses when heat is on. Had three technicians come to look at furnace and take it all apart, nothing dropped into the furnace during install. Sprayed the heck out of the coil with a vinegar/dishsoap solution. Was afraid to spray a chemical coil cleaner in case that would compound the problem! Do some of those coils offgas from the manufacturer???

You may want to look for any place the hot copper line may be in contact with foam or plastic and separate them. I have seen the temp reading for that line over 195°f and that seems like more than most foam or plastic can take.

So my question is about new plastic drain pans. Any experience with them offgasing for a time when heat is run?
When you speak of copper line I have no idea what you mean. Please explain? We took everything apart to look for any plastic or foam that may have dropped inside the components and found none. That's why I'm here :)
I was thinking you had a heat pump now I see you said furnace.
What is the temp of the warm air your furnace is blowing out the registers?
