Moisture barrier for exterior of basement wall

cragged | Posted in General Questions on

I am insulating 12″  above grade of concrete foundation on a house and digging down by hand another 12″ below grade and using 2′ by 4′ Roxul comfort board. Should I put a moisture barrier behind the Roxul and if so what product should I use? It’s winter here so I can’t use anything that requires mild weather to apply. I am covering the Roxul with metal flashing.  Thanks.

    Cragged,

I think this article will be helpful in answering some of your questions (https://www.greenbuildingadvisor.com/article/how-to-insulate-a-basement-wall).

Also... I think we need more information to better understand your project. Where are you located? Why are you only insulating a portion of the wall? (Or is this a crawlspace and not a basement?) Have you considered installing the insulation on the interior?
