Metal Sheathing pole barn workshop

ScottVeatch | Posted in Energy Efficiency and Durability on

I am a builder in Columbus Ohio.  On my own property I have an amish built Pole Barn workshop and office.

I want to finish the interior, insulate, and heat/cool with traditional furnace.

There is no WRB on the outside only Metal sheathing same on the roof.

What is the best approach without removing all the metal to prevent condensation in the wall?

I was thinking of Rockwool batts and there will be an air channel on the outside corrugated metal.  Doing blown in on the ceiling.  Which is an unconditioned Truss space.

Should I use some kind of WRB on the inside before drywall?

A pole barn is a great low cost place to keep your tractor out of the weather but everything that made it cost so little to build becomes an expensive problem when you decide want to condition the space and don’t want use lots of energy.

Now that you are committed, I think the best option is to build a tight well insulated building inside your drafty uninsulated pole barn.

    This article maybe helpful.

If you read the Garage Journal forum the advice is to cover the interior with as much spray foam as you can afford. I am not sure I agree but they seem happy with the results.
