XPS is much worse for the environment than EPS or polyiso (although Foamular NGX is supposed more benign.) Reclaimed foam is often a better choice but can be hard to source at times. Cellulose is often the "greenest" choice, but it and other types of air permeable insulation are not always the best product for some applications.
