masonry wall assembly question
Masonry house in Climate zone 4A. I’d like some thoughts about this assembly — which really is reinventing the wheel.
I have a masonry wall that I’d like to insulate. I don’t really want to go on the outside of the wall where it would do the most good. Instead, I’d apply 1″ or 2″ board insulation laminated to the block wall which has been lime parged. I’d then laminate coated glass gypsum to the face of the board insulation.
The board insulation would be either XPS or poly-iso and would be salvaged materials, so I am less worried about GWP and more pleased about diverting material from landfill. The board would be either surplus densglas or densdeck.
I am not really concerned with constructability since I have enough experience with laminating materials to wall and ensuring they lie flat. I am curious about system performance and whether the wall is going to feel cold during winter.
I don’t want to do a standard assembly with a 2.5″ stud wall since the additional thickness is going to make a small room even smaller.
