Magnetic Kitchen Hood Exhaust Damper
Can anyone recommend a brand for a magnetic kitchen hood exhaust damper?
I was watching a presentation on a passive house development and after building the first house they said that one thing they would change in order to improve the air-tightness of the house was use a magnetic damper.
Here’s the presentation.

In cold climate you have to take a bit of care with kitchen hood dampers. A passive unit that is well sealed can be trouble.
I've had issues with my standard flapper style one not opening for a while when cold outside. It eventually opens once enough hot air makes it through to melt some of the grease. If the damper was well sealed, I'm pretty sure it would not have opened at all.
If you want good seal, a motorized damper is a better option.
