    Where did you hear/read that HRVs produce ozone?

    Mark,
    I think you are confusing HRVs -- useful appliances -- with a controversial category of appliances, namely "ozone generators."

    Don't ever buy or use an ozone generator. For more information, see this article:

    At some point it must have been seen as a potential problem as the NRC looked into whether the blower motors or filtration was generating ozone. But I don't see anything published after 2013, so it's probably safe to assume there wasn't a problem.
