Is there an accurate Drywall Estimating App/program/website I can use to validate an estimate?

artisanfarms | Posted in General Questions on

I have a drywall quote from a contractor I have confidence in in terms of work quality.  I would like to check his price to ensure it is in the ballpark, but would prefer not to waste other contractors’ time by having them bid the job just so I have a comp.

So, are there any on line applications that I can use to check his price?  If it matters, it is a 1600 sqft three bedroom ranch house with easy access.  All of the drywall can be easily boomed into the house thru the front door.

    Andy,

Unfortunately, like almost every other trade you will employ, prices are intensely regional, and the only useful compartor is what others willing to bid your job offer to do it for.

I can give you rules of thumb. For a house figure on about three square feet of drywall for every square foot of floor. I've been paying between two and three dollars a square foot depending on the type of drywall. So ballpark $10-15k for the job

Older post, but since the spam post resurrected it, I'll add this for posterity:

As far as materials go, drywall estimators count sheets and you can do the same quite easily. If you have a room that's 13' in one dimension, it's getting a 16' board with 3' of waste, so the efficiency numbers go up and down depending on what the rooms look like.
