Is silicone caulk appropriate for wood-to-wood connections?
I’m planning to go with the airtight drywall approach, and am looking for a product to seal some of the wood connections…especially in my window jambs.
Silicone sounds relatively non-toxic, but have read that it doesn’t adhere well to wood. Is that critical?
It seems to have a very long rubbery lifetime. Even without good adhesion, wouldn’t it behave like a gasket of sorts?

Richard,
In my experience, silicone caulk adheres well to framing lumber, as long as the lumber is dry and clean. But silicone caulk isn't the easiest caulk to spread or clean up. Less expensive (easier to clean) caulks would probably work well in this location. A lot of builders like the polyurethane caulks.
A lot of builders probably don't know how toxic polyurethane is. I wont' use it. Stuff like that should be reserved for NASA missions. I'm interested in the water based acrylic caulks, but am going to need a chemistry degree in order to understand all this stuff.
Thanks for the tips Martin.
