Is anyone familiar with this supposedly-green type of floor coating system?
Hi all –
I am getting a garage floor finished and am looking into various options.
I’ve learned about this system: http://www.lifetimegarage.com/envy-green/ which is similar to a poured epoxy or polyurea floor coating but claims to use more green and safe materials. I’m interested, but I’ve never heard of this.
I wonder if anyone here is familiar with this product.
thanks! Dave

I can't tell if that's a common product or just available locally from the installer you linked to.
Dave,
I did not see any independent safety or durability data on the vendor's website. That is a little concerning. For any material you might want to use, I suggest ordering a sample. This will give you a chance to at least assess it for odors (if any). Keep in mind that low or no VOC products can still contain unregulated VOCs. Sometimes a zero VOC product is a better option if you are sensitive to chemicals.
Agreed there isn't much info. I did find a bit more at the parent company, which does commercial work using similar products.

I feel a little better about the product after reading the parent company's web site. But I would still want a sample.
The installer brought over a variety of samples, and they certainly looked nice. As a residential consumer, it's tough to evaluate these things. After my bad experience with the polyaspartic coating (still ongoing), I am really keen on getting a product that won't offgass anything at all.
But I'm also torn between trying something relatively new and doing another standard coating but having it done correctly.
I'd want to see good evidence that it's greener than common zero voc/100% solids epoxy.
Have you looked into AFM Safecoat? You might find a product that will work from them. They are small enough that they will answer the phone and talk to you. There is an online retailer of their products (listed on their website) who will sell you samples for a modest cost.
