Ideas on how to store volatiles / chemicals
Hi all.
I am undergoing a workshop build and am looking for ideas on how/where to store chemicals that off-gas. (The concern being air-quality)
I plan to build a shed to store things like gasoline, but there are some products that should not freeze and raise air quality concern (paints, finishes, glues, solvents, etc).
It’s not uncommon to find a bunch of paints, finishes, etc in peoples basement (as is currently the case now with me). My plan was to have this stuff in the shop (wood shop) however I plan to build it tight and am concerned with air quality.
One idea is to build a sort of air tight closet, perhaps vented slightly to outside? I wanted to see if anyone in here had some experience or ideas with this.
Thanks!

I guess I should add that there will be concern (probably greater) when I use these finishes rather than storing them (no spraying... so no spray booth). Perhaps I need to just think more about the ventilation of the entire shop. The space is 28' x 20' and will be intello + air barrier with dense pack cellulose and heat pump.
The current house is 1913, of course without mechanical venting.
One option would be to install a high-quality bath fan (such as Panasonic's Whisper Green modals). You could allow it to run 24/7 or put it on a timer. This is an unbalanced approach but might be sufficient to keep VOCs from accumulating inside the workshop.
