HVAC Design

crain1 | Posted in Mechanicals on

Hello,

I am planning to build a home in Connecticut and I am looking to use a company to design the HVAC system (manual J, S & D).  I have looked at Energy Vanguard as well as Priority Energy but I have not found any companies in the local area.  Does anyone have any experience working with a contractor in Connecticut to install a pre designed system?

Hi, nynick. We're about to move into the same town (mid-Sept). You're a few months ahead of us in terms of planning/executing. Hope you don't mind if I piggyback?

We're not planning on a major renovation. Mostly tightening up the basement and attic - and HVAC.

My primary questions relate to replacing the old furnace, AC, and hot water heater.

I am very interested in a heat pump (probably keeping the oil and forced air as back-up). I'm very early in the research but was wondering if you had any recommendations (which can be provided off-line) for an HVAC company. It doesn't appear that there are many heat pump providers to choose from. Should I be talking to some other service first though (eg, designer, as I see discussed)? Thank you very much.

(also interested in taking advantage of the various rebates and tax credits)
