Ideas for Insulation Detail

Lazenby | Posted in Energy Efficiency and Durability on

Hey all,
I was hoping someone might have an idea or even a detail for the attachment point where the landing to my basement attaches to the concrete wall. I was thinking a vapour barrier then rigid foam then through bolting with expanding bolts.

The walls on either side of the stairs will be 3” of closed cell spray foam. I’d appreciate and ideas! Thanks in advance.

Your idea sounds like the best way to accomplish your goal, but is there any way of supporting the landing with a couple posts without attaching to the concrete wall?

Adam, I prefer "pony walls"--framed walls that support the landing. If they are only supporting the stairs they don't need separate footings.
