How do I install a mail slot in an exterior brick wall thru garage drywall? What is the distance between the garage wall beams? Thank you.

Sharon,
I'm not sure that I understand your question, but I'll take a stab at it.
If you want to install a mail slot through a brick wall, you'll need a masonry saw. It looks like a chainsaw, but it has a big abrasive wheel on it that can cut through bricks. This tool can be rented.
You may also need a hammer drill with a masonry bit and a brick chisel.
The thickness of the wall varies depending on the construction details. Here's one possibility:
Brick veneer: about 4 inches
Drainage gap: about 1 inch
Wall sheathing: about 1/2 inch
Studs: 3 1/2 inches
Drywall: 1/2 inch
Total wall thickness: 9 1/2 inches
The wall can be thicker -- switching from 2x4 studs to 2x6 studs adds 2 inches, and adding exterior foam insulation can add 1 or 2 inches.
