This morning I updated the “How to do everything” page with lots of new links to relatively recent articles.

Here is the link:

This page is extremely helpful, thanks for keeping it updated. One note - the "swimming pool" link takes you to an unrelated topic (first thing I clicked on since that is about to be relevant for me!).

Thanks Martin, I've undated my bookmarks. I consult it frequently.

I think this page should replace the useless search function at the top of the page.

A great page indeed. Thanks Martin.

I understand how monumental a task it can be to rearrange and organize content. I might not go as far as Walter to suggest replacing the search feature (though it isn't a great search engine), but I do wonder if, someday, this page and the 'green basics' and 'encyclopedia' navigation type pages could be combined, revamped, and designed to help beginners more easily find answers to common questions, while also categorizing content for all users to refer to (perhaps with a date component so the most up-to-date content is easy to find and the older discussions are recognized as such).

The 'favorites' is handy for self categorizing, but at some point, one can drown in too many favorites, and a hierarchical sort of navigation can be handy. Maybe its my OCD.

Just a wish upon a star... and about 1,000 times easier said than done. Thanks to all GBA editors for keeping this site going and making it as great as it is.

    Walter and Tyler,
The GBA search function is, indeed, undependable. When looking for something on GBA, here's what I do. Let's say I want information on (for example) steel roofing, and I'm thinking of a particular GBA article on steel roofing, but I can't find it. I'll just go to Google and type this in the Google search box: "steel roofing" +"greenbuildingadvisor"

That works better than the GBA search box.

I also use Google in place of most website's search engines. I'm not a huge fan of the company, but Google's search engine is the 8th wonder of the world.

Thanks for the How to Do Everything page and updates. It's a terrific body of work.

You can further narrow the Google search by saying "site:greenbuildingadvisor.com" as one of your search terms.

Worth remembering a lot of this can be found in Martin's book.
