Home Innovation Research Labs : Designing for Natural Hazards Series Volumes 1 – 5
I just got an email from the JLC and they had an article with a link to this series of design guidelines from the Home Innovation Research Lab on how to implement resilient practices into home design.
The “final product” link in this article takes you to this site, where the five volumes all appear to be free to download.

Hmm. It's strange that nobody commented on this.
I would think if the US Department of Housing and Urban Development asked the Home Innovation Research Labs to come up with a series of free downloadable books outlining the hazards modern designers and builders face today that somebody would be interested.
rockies63,
Thanks for the link. I've bookmarked it, but haven't had time to wade through them all yet. I'll certainly come back with some impressions once I have.
rockies63,
They seem like good primers for the general public, or maybe someone just beginning to think about a certain problem - and maybe the links provide more detail, but the books seemed more of a heads-up, here are some things you should consider - which I'd be surprised if builders working in areas where these hazards exist didn't already know, but then maybe I overestimate how much most builders think about these things.
