Heat Pump Credits on New Build

Hey All,

Seems a bit of a grey area around rebates for HPWH and Heat Pump HVAC installs on new construction. I see on the IRS website that the rebates do NOT apply to new construction, yet I keep seeing and hearing folks talk about getting these rebates on new builds. So, what’s the catch?

Build is in Idaho (so probably no state-specific programs) in CZ 6. Thanks–

    Possible they are buying the heat pump "for their current house." I intend to buy a hpwh water heater after I move in.
