Heat loss – attached garage slab

imlindai | Posted in General Questions on

Hi, if i want to use radiant floor heating in the slab foundation but not in the attached garage, will there be heat loss into the garage? If so, any suggestions on a better way?

    Separate slabs with foam divider.

Ok, thanks! Would an icf type divider be good?

    Linda,
I'm not sure what you mean by "an ICF-type divider," but if you plan to install an ICF frost wall around the perimeter of your home -- not including the garage -- and then to pour the garage slab separately, that would work. The thicker the vertical foam between the two slabs, the better.
