Foundation insulation choice
Hi there I’m located in southern. Ontario. I’m renovating my basement and trying to make a choice here for insulation.
For 2″ GPS board at r10 is $55 per sheet (ouch). This one is rated as a vapor barrier. (less then .5 water vapor permeance) no poly needed
The next one is 1″ gps (graphite EPS)
R5. $25 per sheet. I would need a vapor barrier (poly) as it’s not 2 inches. Same water permeance
Plan on doing 2X4 studs with roxul
The foam would be butted right to my foundation with glue then studs then roxul. Thanks
Any thoughts??
Thank you

dgibbon13,
I'm not that familiar with the OBC. Is the o.5 perms a code requirement, hence the poly?
Why not just go with a specific basement product?

Yeah , if the vapor permeance is low enough (.5) it's enough to exclude a vapor barrier. When you get into stuff that's like 3-5 you need a barrier on top of that. I'm just having a hard time with is it worth like triple the cost for another inch with an additional r5 or just go r5 lower and save. A pile of money
I'll save you $5 per sheet already on the 1" at $25 and the 2" at $55.... :)
You guys are lucky to have GPS. I could only find SilverBoard. No distributor of other GPS would ship to me.
Haha it's actually 27.50. It's exact half the cost lol. I just double checked. Whereabouts are you located?
