ERV exhaust duct thru garage

Wondering if there are any pitfalls to routing the exhaust outlet of the ERV thru the garage, into the attic and then thru a soffit vent. I understand the duct portion in the garage cannot be a flexible vinyl insulated duct for fire reasons. Would an insulated metal duct be OK?

    The only concern I'd have is length. If it's longer than about 10 feet, you might want to upsize the duct. If the garage is not conditioned space, I'm not sure it needs to be insulated at all.
