Ductless Mini SEER Ratings

jackofalltrades777 | Posted in General Questions on

How much more energy would a ductless minisplit that is rated at 19 SEER vs 22 SEER, use? Price wise, the 22 SEER is more money but trying to figure payback costs in terms of electricity usage.

Remember that the price of the thing is only a percentage of the total cost.
A few hundred bucks is nothing
I say this because I can be guilty of focusing to strictly on price.
That said, frequently the more efficient units have a different feature set, sometimes lower ambient heating.
So, look at the features, not just SEER
If you have no use for low ambient heating, don't pay for it, but if you maybe might, a small increase in price is the world in February
A few points on SEER is not going to mean much, compared to going from 13 to 21.

When comparing SEER ratings understand that the rules for calculating SEER number has changed and not all the numbers being published are on the new system. The same equipment tends to get a lower score under the new system. Sometime it may say SEER2 =XX but the 2 may not always show up.
