Dimple matt under or over basement floor insulation, Green Bay WI

PAUL KUENN | Posted in Energy Efficiency and Durability on

Working on a fairly dry basement. No exterior basement block wall insulation so we’re adding 2″ of XPS on the interior glued and strapping added for future finishing. We see lots of videos using the flooring dimple matt under the insulation but would that not enhance air and mold under the insulation? Has anyone put dimple matt over the insulation to keep the subfloor extra dry incase of any moisture (this is a new bathroom in a heated basement).  Thanks, PK

    Paul,
You might want so see a previous thread on this topic:
"Use of dimpled membrane on basement floor."

I'm skeptical of the value of a dimple mat under basement flooring, for the reasons I gave in the previous thread.
