Deck Drainage through Ladder Blocking

Matteus_Olmedo | Posted in Green Building Techniques on

I have an engineered deck that calls for ladder blocking between the last joist and the rim.  I need to waterproof the deck and I’d like to use an EPDM system like Mike Guertin has written about but the full depth ladder blocking the engineer spec’d causes a problem.  I know RainEscape provides a solution to this but not for 24 OC.  I would have to double the blocking and install a u-shaped gutter and then I could use a hybrid of the RainEscape downpouts for the ladder blocking and the EPDM for the rest (Again, can’t use RainEscape with 24OC).  Just thought I would check if anyone had any better solutions.
