Crete-Heat vapor barrier patching – and possibilities?

bobped_diego | Posted in General Questions on

We are installing a slab below grade, surrounded by Nudura ICF with water-proofing membrane and delta drain system, low humidity/rain high basin, zone 6B.

We installed crete-heat and ran pex-al-pex tubing and planned to pour the slab within a few days, but for various reasons the concrete pour has been delayed a couple of weeks.

We laid plywood over high traffic areas, to avoid damage, but during that time there has been some foot traffic over some of the foam that has caused some of the 10 mil polysterene film at the top of the crete-heat to crack/peel.  Not the EPS foam itself, just the green plastic film, which I believe is the “vapor barrier” (although I think “vapor retarder” is perhaps a better term?).

I was thinking/hoping it would be relatively easy to spray something on the areas where the plastic has pealed off,  to replace the plastic film, but the Crete-Heat guru said there is no such product.

But then I’m wondering how much moisture/vapor protection is needed, given the environment and nature of the build.

My questions –

* If you were using this product in an environment like mine would you be concerned about the cracked outer layer of the Crete-Heat?
* If so, do you have any recommendations for how to mitigate, aside from replacing the panels?
* Someone recommended flex seal or some other rubberized product, but I don’t think I want that under my slab…  I also don’t think spray PUR or other foam would work, as these are just surface cracks.
