Conventional Stucco vs Synthetic Acrylic

jackofalltrades777 | Posted in General Questions on

On an ICF/EPS structure, is it better to apply an acrylic stucco or Portland based conventional stucco?

There is a product called “U-Stucco” and it’s conventional stucco but contains fibers in it like they put in concrete to help with cracks. It looks like a decent product but haven’t seen or heard of any firsthand reviews. They claim a R2.2 when applied at 1″ thickness. Not sure how they derive that but that’s the claim.

Either synthetic or conventional, I would use a fiberglass mesh (4.5 ounce or greater) to help prevent cracking.

I'm also interested in this product. Anyone have any experience? I'm told by them you can use it for the base coat and then even use a sider-crete top coat if preferred.

same here. I am working on a project using ICF (Nudura) and the manufacturer is pushing their Dryvit system which is essentially their acrylic stucco. Our market is affordable spec housing so I don't want to break the bank either.
