Imagine the Lincoln Family (of 4) Live in North America
They don’t care at all about Privacy
They do care very much about Comfort
Could they be “Comfortable” in a One Room “Cabin”
Heated and Cooled by a Single Ductless Mini-Split?
What if they Lived in San Francisco?
Or North Ontario?

I guess that if the Lincoln family cares not at all about privacy then they would be most comfortable in one of the first two floor plans in either San Fran or Nipigon...
And if they selected one of those first two, maybe the floor plan could be compressed further?
Maybe also the third floor plan if it used shoji style partition walls of rice paper over lathe?
Or transoms through more solid partitions?

If I recall correctly, this is the second or third time that you have asked this question. It's almost as if, no matter how often the question is answered, you want a different answer.

A. Yes, if the ductless minisplit is sized to meet the design heating and cooling load.
Q. "What if they lived in San Francisco?"
A. Same answer.
Q. "Or north Ontario?"
A. Here there is probably a problem -- because I imagine that the outdoor design temperature is significantly colder than the minimum outdoor temperature for a good cold-climate minisplit (generally about -15 F).
Q. "What if you add indoor plumbing ? And appliances?"
A. Same answers.
Q. "What if you add walls and closed doors?"
A. Now the answer depends on the flexibility and expectations of the homeowners. Flexible homeowners who don't mind leaving doors open during the day might be fine. Inflexible homeowners who want to be able to keep their doors closed 24 hours a day probably won't.
