Cement finish on xps foundation insulation

dfvellone | Posted in General Questions on

I’m considering using a surface bonding cement on the xps insulation on my slab edge, but wonder about durability. The insulation doesn’t provide much density in terms of fastening diamond lath or hardware cloth for a bonding surface, and I’m left wondering about the durability of surface bonding cement applied to foam insulation.
Has anyone tried this? Can you attest to longevity?
Thanks, Daniel

I've used fiberglass mesh that is similar to drywall tape except it's much wider and much stickier along with a synthetic parge. It turned out great. The Parge is very heavy and it only comes in 5 gallon buckets.
